Everything appears to be factory original with the exception of the seat. The original"Violet" finish has typical wear including scratches and spots where the paint has chipped off and surface rust has started(see pictures) There are dents in the front fender(see picture) This thing still looks pretty good to be 46 years old. I would consider replacing them, but they do hold air and I made sure to take the bike for a spin myself. The non-original, but vintage, tires are showing their age, including the whitewall on the rear. Which is to be expected if a bike has been riden and appreciated. She has a couple little wear spots in the paint and chrome here and there. The rear tire is a'slick' and the wheel is 20" The'bucket' rear seat has spring suspension on the posts for a smooth ride. The front fork has spring suspension and a 16" wheel. The color was officially called'Kool Lemon' by Schwinn in'68. The suspension rides well and the brakes work great. more recovered(probably for a girl) it was done so well that it absolutely appears the seat was never modified: a real class job. The seat material actually appears to be'factory' and has the original Schwinn Sting Ray aluminum tag on the back. The bike is all original as best I can tell with the original aluminum drum brake on the front, original derailleur, original chain guard, original pedals, original 5 speed stick shift, original fenders, original cables, original calipers, original yellow handlebar grips, and original banana seat. Illinois in November of 1968(as confirmed by serial number LD56244- see picture) This is a paricularly rare and early example. She's a great surviving example of one of the coolest achievments in American bicycle manufacturing. These bikes are very collectible and very hard to find. Overall this bike is in great shape and is a great survivor. The highlight of this bike is it still has is original owners manual and. brakes work but might need a little adjustment after reassembly. the seat is a persons in great shape no rust on the bottom. shifter is in nice shape with decals in great shape still. chrome on handlebars and sissy bar are in nice shape but do have scratches from being turned over. The chrome on the fenders is in great shape on top and little rust on the bottom. The rear tire is original and date stamped 68. everything on the bike appears to be original. the chain guard is really nice also with great original screening with really nice paint. the paint on the bike is in great shape with a few nicks here and there.
